Meet the Team

Paula Shaw

Founder, Cured Leaves Tea

Paula began practicing yoga to connect with herself and minimize the stresses of life. Her love for Yoga and compassion for people and nature has influenced her practice and teaching of both Yoga and Breath work. Through her own experiences and witnessing the results of clients, Paula heavily focuses on the breath through mindfulness, meditation, and Yoga.

Paula completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Yoga Centric to become RYT 200 certified. She is also a Certified Breath Master, Mindfulness Coach and Spiritual Lifestyle Consultant. Paula was led on this path through a journey towards self-actualization and love for humankind. Yoga connects each of her professional disciplines & allows her to joyfully serve others, as she believes humankind's primary purpose is enhancing the lives of others.

Helen Downing

Founder, Create Happy Spaces

Helen specializes in teaching mindfulness techniques and guiding individuals through transformative experiences. Through her work, she empowers individuals to hold space for themselves, fostering self-awareness and personal growth. Intentionally blending certifications in Yoga Nidra, Sound Healing, and Reiki. Helen's sessions are well-known for their calming and rejuvenating effects, creating a sacred space for healing and relaxation.

Peter Purol

Registered Yoga Teacher

Pete Purol, a dedicated yoga teacher with a profound specialization in the realms of yoga philosophy and sound healing, offers a unique journey through the Dharma Workshop. Drawing from his extensive knowledge and expertise, Pete guides participants on a transformative exploration of dharma, yoga, and the power of sound. Through immersive experiences, reflective discussions, and practical exercises, Pete facilitates a deep dive into the essence of these ancient practices, empowering individuals to align with their true purpose and unlock their fullest potential. Whether exploring the intricacies of yoga philosophy, harnessing the therapeutic effects of sound, or exploring the intersection of both, Pete's workshops provide a sacred space for growth and self-discovery.

Daniel Waldman

Daniel Waldman

Founder, Elixir Retreats

Daniel is a former marketing and PR executive turned expat and freelance writer/editor/event manager. He has more than 20 years of experience in marketing and public relations, including 7 years running his own boutique agency.

He got his start as an editor at a vanity press, and later went on to lead marketing and communications at a variety of marketing agencies before starting his own business. He has a BA in English from Loyola College in Maryland and a MA in Communications, Culture & Technology from Georgetown University.

He’s also a published short fiction writer, with a short story published in Bewildering Stories. Daniel also loves painting, hiking, and seeing live music. He lives in Nantes, France with his family.

Isis Peace

Registered Massage Therapist

Isis Peace, a registered massage therapist, will be offering Thai Massage, a deeply rejuvenating practice rooted in ancient healing traditions from Thailand. With her expertise and compassionate approach, Isis brings a sense of tranquility and harmony to each session, guiding clients through a therapeutic journey of relaxation, flexibility, and well-being. Through Thai Massage, Isis aims to nurture both the body and the spirit, providing a space for clients to unwind, release tension, and reconnect with their inner peace. In addition to Thai Massage, Isis will also be providing private sessions on body massage, allowing clients to experience personalized treatments tailored to their specific needs and preferences.

Where We're Staying

Join us for a transformative wellness retreat nestled in the heart of a serene location. Our private Airbnb accommodation provides the perfect backdrop for a journey of self-discovery and rejuvenation.

The retreat offers comfortable and spacious living areas, fostering a sense of community and connection. We invite you to step away from the daily hustle and bustle, and into a space of calm and tranquility.

Single and shared rooms are available on a first come first served basis.

What We'll Eat

Ready for something healthy and delicious? We’ll be serving hearty plant-based meals at Elixir: Relax and Retreat. All meals are included so you don’t have to worry about cooking!

We’ll also enjoy some delicious handmade tea blends, courtesy of our retreat partner, Cured Leaves Tea.

What is included in the retreat price?

Elixir Relax & Retreat includes:

  • Your stay at the private residence
  • All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
  • Snacks and drinks
  • Transportation from and to the Philadelphia International Airport (if you’re flying to the retreat)

What's not included?

Elixir Relax & Retreat does not include:

  • Your transportation costs to either the retreat venue or the Philadelphia Airport.
  • Any private sessions you book with any of our specialists or teachers.

How can I book a private session?

Private sessions can be reserved when you register. We will advise you of the day and time for your session when we get closer to the retreat date.

What is an Elixir retreat?

An Elixir retreat is a unique, curated retreat designed to allow you to disconnect from the outside world and tap into your inner creativity and inspiration.

Why is this site called Elixir Writing Retreats?

Elixir Retreats started purely as writing retreats. However, we’ve recognized that our format can be applied to other types of retreats. In fact, this is our first non-writing retreat (though we encourage you to write if that’s your thing)!
